Meet Dr. Ken Otterstedt

From Navy Dentist to Caring for Colorado’s Kids

Dr. Ken Otterstedt’s journey to becoming a trusted pediatric dentist started in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2006, he began his dental residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Serving as a Navy dentist for over 5 years, Dr. Ken honed his skills while caring for service members and their families across the country.

However, his true calling became clear during his residency at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2012—working with children.

“Working with children keeps me young,” says Dr. Ken. “I feel like I’m making a difference in their lives, and that’s something I’m passionate about every single day.”

The fear of the dentist often starts young, leading to further anxiety in adulthood. That’s why Dr. Ken prioritizes creating a welcoming, fun environment where kids across Colorado Springs feel safe and cared for. His warm demeanor and ability to connect with children help even the most nervous little patients feel at ease.
